Thankfulness - A simple "thank you" shows appreciation and gratitude
Thank you! Thank you for reading this and following me! I feel so thankful to have you in my community.
According to Merriam-Webster Dictionary thankful is defined as “conscious of benefits received”. Being thankful is an act, an act of expressing appreciation toward someone. It is a simple social norm that most of us are taught from a young age. I remember teaching my children to say please and thank you, at appropriate times, and to always write a thank you note for gifts or good deeds. These simple words have an effect on most that evoke a feeling of appreciation, value and worth. Expressing thanks tends to be an automatic response; quick and in the moment we say, “thank you” for opening the door, or “thank you” for folding the laundry. Receiving a thank you note is, for me, one of the most lovely gifts to receive from another person. I always feel so valued and acknowledged. Those feelings lead toward deeper feelings of gratitude…being thankful for the goodness in my life.
During this hectic time of year when you’re out and about waiting in long lines with others find the feeling and willingness inside you to act kindly and thankfully. A simple thank you or offer to help someone in need shows thankfulness and brightens moods even in the most busy times of the year! Experience for yourself how your perspective may change and how you attract more things to be thankful for in your life.
