Experience a surge of inner wisdom - sit with your fears

What does it take you to get through your fears and flip the coin to honor and follow your inner wisdom?

This past week while teaching my yoga students and coaching my clients I brought up the concept of investigating our Kidney Qi through identifying, investigating and contemplating fears that come up for us and how a practice such as sitting can lead to a surge of inner wisdom. I like to mix a little Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) in with my teachings. The kidneys, according to the ancients, are viewed as the most essential organs for the production of fundamental substances required for all life activities. According to TCM when our organs are out/in balance certain emotions come through. Out of balance kidney qi leads to fear and in balance leads to wisdom. Are you with me?

In our modern world fear has many disguises and while you may not identify strongly with the word fear you might relate to some of it’s manifestations including feelings of anxiety or overwhelm, loss of personal power, feeling angry or dispassionate. Being able to acknowledge and explore any of these conditions can help to address fear and lead you to the wisdom within that the feelings are teaching us.

Try this: visualize a coin with one side representing fear (or it’s many manifestations) and the other side representing wisdom. Resolve to turn the coin so the wisdom side is up - use this metaphorical symbol as you contemplate, move, breathe, sit, or meditate. Allow a practice to emerge that is soothing with intention toward non-striving to reduce anxiety, stress and depletion.

Speaking of reducing anxiety, stress and depletion I’m so excited because I just booked a retreat location in Northern California for a full weekend retreat in the fall of 2020. Stay tuned for more info!
